Some more 'literally's........

A few more choice examples of the misuse of 'literally', as I promised.

James tells me that he watched a programme on recycling on TV when he heard the reporter say,     " Britain`s waste problem has been literally swept under the carpet!" The other choice morsel was heard on local radio as a traffic report, "The traffic is literally sailing through!"

The Power Of Words.....

We were driving down the M25 when we came round to a discussion of use of the word "literally". 'We' were my ex-husband Robert, my son James and me (plus Sooty the family dog). We were all going to the funeral of Robert`s dad - a sad occasion though a great relief from suffering. We were passing the time it takes to get down to Dymchurch in Kent with chat on things that could make us laugh.

Anyhow, James and his dad make a collection of the number of times that the word "literally" gets used incorrectly in the media, particularly on radio. He gave me three peachy examples which had me falling about and I now relate them to you (with James`s permission) Read on>>>

Lucky Sir Alan?

Sir Alan Sugar (founder of Amstrad and star of UK`s "The Apprentice") doesn`t believe in luck, just hard work...... Hmm.

I expect you, my dear readers work hard too - but do you earn the vast amounts he does?? No, I thought not. And as you have been reading these columns over the last few months, you will know by now that luck isn`t just a matter of "luck". According to a study done by the University of Herefordshire, there are some distinct characteristics that make up a lucky person. See whether you fit the bill....................Read on >>>

What a millionaire thinks!

Millionaires are lucky people. Hmm, they would probably quibble if I was implying they live charmed lives and did nothing to accumulate their riches.

They are likely to think differently from the rest of us though not in the way F. Scott Fitzgerald meant. I`ve included below something that David Wood in his Mentor Monthly newsletter  quotes from "Secrets Of The Millionaire Mind" by T Harv Eker. Read on>>>

Persistence pays.......

A quote in yesterday`s Times, "If you actually look like your passport photo, you aren`t well enough to travel" (Imogen Stubbs) - gave me a smile. If you looked at mine, you`d think they`d just removed the IV!

I was leafing through The Times this morning over my hot water and dug up these jewels of wisdom. Survival Tips:

  • Everything will be OK in the end. If it`s not OK, it`s not the end.
  • Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.
  • Never take no for an answer. There is always a solution for every situation.

and finally............Read on>>>>

Secret Revelations...

A lovely client of mine caught me out this evening.

Ah, for all of you who`ve yet to discover, I`m a Luck Coach. I use hypnosis occasionally to anchor the positive outcome that my client visualises and use relaxation techniques give their unconcious the confidence that it`s all perfectly possible to achieve.

He was obviously listening more carefully than I was expecting. So when.........Read on>>>>

Take Control Of Your Time!

A friend of mine, Beverley Hamilton has just written an excellent ebook,"Take Control Of Your Time: 7 Straight Shooter Strategies For Success!" which you can find on her website www.onestepfurther.com .

It`s a practical, down-to-earth, sock-it-to-`em manual on how to organise your time to make the most of it. Russell Grant Does It Again!!

Well, lookee here, the horoscope this morning read like this...

"A newcomer to your social circle strikes you as overly idealistic. At first, you'll shake your head at this person's seeming naivete. Gradually you'll notice this character seems to experience an inordinate amount of lucky breaks. That's really not a coincidence. By radiating positive energy, your pal is attracting all sorts of good fortune. Take a page from their book and see what happens. Assume an idealistic view for an entire week."

What he means by 'an idealistic view' is a positive attitude, I guess. An attitude of trusting that other people have the best of intentions, that things will turn out well even against the odds, that you will win through whatever happens. Sounds good. How to get there? Read on>>
