Re-reading what I`ve written, I`ve wondered whether I`m being a bit po-faced. Perhaps it would be easier if I were to talk about what happens to me as illustrations of how lucky I am - and how lucky I can be for my friends and clients.
I`ll give you a beautiful illustration of how lucky I have been for friends. I was visiting Lake Tahoe, the most exquisitely beautiful part of the world with snowy mountains and the blue lake and pure clear skies. It is also on the margin of California and Arizona. So you have the comic picture of a simple Western town one side of the street and a crazy, noisy, colourful line of casinos on the other.
Anyhow, I was there to meet my friend`s grandmother who we called Tita Maria. She lived in an old folks trailer park and went to town regularly to play the slot machines for recreation.
We were going along the line of slot machines when Tita Maria thrust 3 silver dollars into my hand and said, "Here, Sarah, put these into the machines for me."
I pushed one into the slot and pulled the lever (not at all knowing how to play). Out shot $500 in a silver shower! It was pretty exciting as you can imagine to see the coins just keep on coming. It seemed that a mountain stream had been diverted and was gushing, depositing money at our feet.
We had a very cheerful evening feasting on the winnings!
