Wow what beautiful weather we`re having at the moment. It was a trifle humid over the weekend and now it has calmed to bright, clear, fresh and sunny days. It`s amazing how smiley people get in the sunshine, have you noticed? My body relaxes and opens up to welcome the warmth. Mind you, you can`t help but smile when you squint into the light!
I found out the other day that when you smile, you produce serotonin, a 'feel good' hormone, even if that smile is false to begin with. So the more you smile, the more good you feel! Putting on a happy face is a good idea, then to help you become happier. And luckier too according to the following.
A few days ago, my friend Steve sent me this: -
"Tomorrow (18 June) is the 190th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo, at which Napoleon’s dream was finally ended. There is no doubt that he was one of history’s greats. And when appointing his senior Generals, he asked “Est-il hereux?” which translates as “Is he Lucky”. Interesting that the literal translation is “Is he Happy?” Napoleon and many others have noted the connection between Happiness and Luck (our own phrase, “Happy –go- Lucky”, may come from this, I don’t know).
Message: To increase your Luck, increase your Happiness"
The person who wrote this is called Phil Olley - and if anyone knows who he is, please let me know how to contact him to say thank you. I was really fascinated that Napoleon realised that you can have all the talent and ability in the world though if you don`t apply it with a happy belief in a positive outcome, you aren`t likely to be successful.
This morning as the sun streamed through my bedroom window, I was smiling reading "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" once more. A challenging and gloriously entertaining book on acquiring a rich mentality. How lucky is that - to be reading about getting rich in bed on a beautiful morning!
